Gauhati
College
offers almost all infrastructure facilities. All
buildings in the college are located in two main
blocks:
The principal’s office is located in the Arts
Block. Different facilities available in the college
include:
v
Class
Rooms: Sufficient numbers of classrooms are available
in the college. All classrooms are spacious and having
all required amenities. Classes of the Arts stream
include Geography and Anthropology are held in
separate building called Social Science Bhawan along
with the Arts block. Science classes are held in
Science block.
v
Laboratories: All science laboratories
except Geography and Anthropology are located in the
Science block. Social Science Bhawan in the Arts block
accommodates the Geography and Anthropology
laboratories. Laboratories are well equipped and
almost all required amenities are available.

Library: The central library is located
in the Arts block. The library building has been
provided with all facilities including reading rooms
for boys & girls and also teachers. It is stocked
with more then 12,000 text books, reference books,
news papers, journals etc.
The library remain open form
10 AM to 4 PM
on every teaching as well as working days. Students
are allowed to go to the stack of books during the
working period. Students are given library cards and
books are issued to them on production of the same.
The library maintains certain rules and regulations
for the users.

Seminar Library: Every department has
its own seminar cum departmental library. Sufficient
numbers of books related to course of study are
available in the seminar library.

Computer workstation-cum Training
Centre: The computer workstation cum training centre
is on the first floor of the library building. The
centre, constructed and installed with the financial
assistance form the IOC, Digboi through LPG Bottling
Plant,
North Gauhati
, offers certificate courses of varying duration on
basic computer knowledge. The centre provides internet
Service to the learners.

Common Rooms for Students: There are
separate common rooms for boys and girls. The Alumni
Association of the college has taken up this project
for implementation as a mark of their sincere gesture
and love for the alma-mater.

Auditorium: The college has specious
auditorium with sitting capacity of thousand people.
v
Canteen: the college canteen remains
open from 8 AM to 6 PM. The canteen committee of the
college selects a contractor form time to time to run
the canteen. It also supervise the activities of the
canteen.

Drinking Water Facilities: Drinking
water facilities for students are available in the
college. The drinking water project named ‘Taru
Golap Drinking Water Project’ was gifted by Mrs.
Sikha Saikia Kashyap, a senior faculty of the English
Department of the college in memory of her late
parents.
